Chili Cheese Stuffed Burgers

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
  • 5 ounce can diced green chilies
  • 1-1½ pounds ground beef
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼–½ tsp Bacon Pepper (or ½–¾ tsp season salt with a pinch of cayenne pepper)
  • Bakery gourmet hamburger buns or Mexican bolio rolls
  • Frozen Onion Rings, baked
  • Green leaf Lettuce
  • 1 large slicing tomato
  • Mayonnaise (optional)

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and chilies. Mix on high speed until thoroughly combined. Remove ⅓ cup of mixture and set aside. Stir shredded cheese in with the remaining cream cheese mixture; chill in the freezer.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine ground beef, ⅓ cup reserved cream cheese chili mixture and bacon pepper; mix well. Form into eight generous 1/4 cup portions; flatten into ¼ in. thick patties (evenly distribute any remaining meat among patties). Spread a generous tablespoon of chilled cream cheese mixture in the centers of half the patties, leaving a border of meat. Top with remaining patties; seal edges.
  3. Place burgers on a broil pan and broil on low for 10-15 minutes; or until almost cooked through. Spread remaining cream cheese mixture over the tops of each burger the last few remaining minutes and broil until melted. Serve patties on bun, with lettuce, tomato, and onion ring.
