Caramel Apple Pecan Pie

2 1/2 c. thinly sliced apple (combination of sweet & tart)

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
25 caramels  (total of 8 ounces)
3 tbsp. milk
1 pie crust
1 cup chopped pecans
Whipped topping or vanilla ice cream
 

Preheat oven and baking sheet to 400 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine apples, sugar and flour. Set aside. In double boiler, melt caramels. Stir milk into caramel. Add apple mixture. Spoon into pie crust and top with pecans. Bake on preheated baking sheet for 35 – 40 minutes. Allow to cool 1 hour. Serve with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream.
